This French period started in 1760 and was the revival of the classical architectural order from 1700 to 1730. It is called the Regency style in French, and the primary colors used were white and gold.

During 1730-1760, the Hotel de Soubise was built in the style of Rococo.

The furniture made during the Rococo period was designed in pastel colors, white, and gold. The wooden cabinets have detailed parquetry designs, as shown in the Bergere-walnut chair and Bombe Commode with Ormolu mounts.

Madame de Pompadour 


Madame de Pompadour was born on December 29, 1721, and developed art and architecture in France; and was a member of the French court and was made the official mistress of Louis XV. Madame de Pompadour built the Château de Bellevue.

    Hey Irma! I really like the images you used this week. I especially liked the Bergere walnut chair, it looks very comfortable. I appreciate that you included an image of the artist in One Step Further along with an image of her work. Good job!

    I loved that you focused on Regency and Rococo design. You also gave strong modern examples of interiors that used these styles. I loved your image of a modern Rococo interior. I also appreciate the modern Bergere walnut chair. Madame de Pompadour was the perfect person to investigate in a deeper way. 50/50 points

  English Renaissance The English Renaissance lasted from 1550 to 1660. During sub-periods, they were named after this time and had unique designs for rulers. The Tudor Style was created during a conflict between the pope and King Henry V11. he later became the head of the Church of England and increased the number of houses and land given to wealthy merchants and traders during his reign.   The Americas/ China and India One of the well known Chinese architecture is the the Great Wall of China that was built to go for about 5500-13,000 miles long that included watch towers form what history tell us that when the people that were building the wall died that their bodies where put inside during the making of the wall it was built in the early 7th century BC during the reign of the emperor Qin Shi Huang  in order to protect his empire and the wall kept being added on until the Ming era.
