Early Christian and Byzantine      One of the oldest Christian builds is the church house since it was vital for them to have a place where they could worship God and practice their rituals and prayer. This building was made before christianity was legalized and had to be secret since they couldn't worship in public so all of them were made in homes and some were donated by wealthy chrisdtians that were able to build to worship God the homes of the wealthy chirstian donated were called domus ecclesiae this builds could hold 50 people at that time. this building can be found in Nocera Umbra Italy During the time of Emperore Diodetian rule since Christianity monotheistic belief wasn't respected the emperore persecuted many Christians during the period of 303 to 305 C.E this a modern version of domus ecclesiae architecture   Corpus Christi; Aachen, Germany. Classical civilization

Classical Civilization     Classical civilization occurred in mountain countries surrounded by three different seas: the Aegean, the Mediterranean, and the Ionian. The fact that these countries were closely connected helped a lot with their trade and their ability to advance in their architecture since, in a way, they could feed off each country's unique designs. Things built during the golden age 480-400 B.C. were the Pantheon and the advancement in architecture in the classical orders and ancient Greek architecture. This is what the Parthenon looks like today. This is one of the most ancient pieces of architecture that has lasted for centuries. Even in harsh conditions, it still stands in any type of weather and can tell bits and pieces of the past and how advanced architecture was during that time. The Golden Age shows how people in the time managed to balance the weight of the marble stone of the roof in marble columns of different shapes and sizes, as can be seen in...

Ancient Civilization

Image
Ancient Civilization         The first ancient civilization started in Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Nubia is mentioned in the textbook. In Egypt, it is considered an essential period since many considered death highly important to them at that time. Hence, the elites highly practiced the custom of entombing the dead since they could afford to do it. Because of this practice, we have many artifacts from that time that lasted centuries, such as pieces of furniture that they added to the tombs of the dead. This image of an Egyptian tomb clearly shows how seriously the Egyptians took the dead in their culture. The textbook mentions on page 24 that a folding bed made with wood and rush matting was found in the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamen; they illustrate it.  this it the illustration in the textbook This is a photo of an Egyptian bed in a museum. The fact that a folding bed existed during Tutankhamun’s reign shows how much we improved the materi...

Prehistory  Many people believe that some of the artifacts we find are the oldest artifacts, but in truth, they aren't. The textbook states, "The oldest known artifact dates back two and a half million years." We can be confident that caves were the architecture of the Stone Age since architecture provides shelter to protect habitats from the hazardous world of the outdoors, including bad weather and dangerous animals. For example, many homes were built out of stone during the Neolithic period, much like this image of a house made of stone. A famous piece of architecture that significantly represents the Neolithic period is the Stonehenge monument, which has lasted for many years and dramatically shows an integral part of our past. It shows how far we have come in improving architectural skills. This is another example of a cave-like house built during the Neolithic period surrounded by stone. It contains everything people needed for that time: shelter from the outside w...
